Your day at Landsdale Farm is all about developing practical animal care skills through hands-on learning and real-world experiences with animals.
Practical animal care training
Working alongside qualified AVT Trainers and Assessors, you’ll develop skills in areas such as:
- Animal handling and restraint
- Feeding and daily husbandry routines
- Animal health and welfare monitoring
- Behaviour observation and enrichment
- Workplace health and safety practices
Learn by doing
You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of companion and farm animals while participating in practical training and assessment activities designed to build your confidence and industry skills.
Apply theory with practice
The flexible learning activities you complete throughout the week help prepare you for your practical training day. At Landsdale Farm, you’ll put that knowledge into action and gain valuable experience applying what you’ve learned in a real animal care environment.
Support from Trainers
Our Trainers and Assessors provide guidance, feedback and support throughout the course, helping you build the knowledge and practical skills needed for future animal care studies and careers.
Each training day includes opportunities to check in with your Trainers and Assessors, ask questions, receive feedback and discuss your progress. This helps ensure you feel supported and confident as you develop your practical animal care skills.
Please note: Activities may vary depending on the units being studied, practical assessment requirements, animal welfare needs and weather conditions.
