Meeting the Entry Requirements

Your experience and knowledge in Veterinary Nursing

The course material is written for students with existing veterinary nursing skills. To enrol in this course you will need to have successfully completed, Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or an equivalent course (see below) or have equivalent skills and knowledge.

To assist us in processing your enrolment, you will be asked to submit a copy of your Certificate at the time of enrolment.

If you do not hold a Certificate but believe you have the equivalent skills or knowledge or equivalent education you will be required to provide supporting documentation of equivalent studies. This includes items such as:

  • an official certificate or documentation showing successful course completion from a relevant training institution OR;
  • a written recommendation from your current employer (veterinary practice) confirming you possess Certificate IV level skills and knowledge.

Equivalent Qualifications

The following qualifications meet the entry requirements of this course:-

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (Australia)
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (University of Queensland) – formerly known as Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology major) graduated after 1998
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (Charles Sturt University – with Cert IV Veterinary Nursing embedded) graduated after 1998
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Technology – The University of Adelaide
  • Associate Degree of Veterinary Nursing (Melbourne Polytechnic), graduated after 2015
  • Veterinary technician degrees accredited with the AVMA completed national VNTE examinations (USA), graduated after 1998 – see website
  • Diploma in Veterinary Nursing Level 3 – RVN (United Kingdom) or higher level qualification, graduated after 1998 – see website
  • Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (New Zealand) or higher-level qualification, graduated after 1998
  • Canada: CVMA-accredited college qualifications – The list can be found online
  • BSc(Hons) in Veterinary Nursing, University College Dublin
  • Bachelor of Science (ord) in veterinary nursing, Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)
  • Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing, Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)
  • Bachelor of Science Veterinary nursing, Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT)
  • BSc in Veterinary Nursing, Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT)
