Jess has worked in veterinary hospitals for over 10 years. She began her Veterinary Nursing career as a shelter nurse at the RSPCA Victoria, where she was exposed to all aspects of shelter medicine and quickly developed a strong interest in surgery and anaesthesia. This passion led her to pursue speciality nursing roles, working across several referral practices.
Alongside her clinical work, Jess took on casual employment with Melbourne Polytechnic, assisting in the assessment of students undertaking the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing. In 2022, she moved from Victoria to Perth and went on to coordinate the surgery department within a multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital.
Jess is now a Student Support Officer at AVT, supporting students enrolled in the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She assists students with queries or concerns throughout their studies and helps assess applications for the course. Jess is a passionate advocate for the progression of the Veterinary Nursing profession and strongly supports mandatory registration and ongoing education as key drivers for elevating standards of care within the industry.
