It is with great regret that AVT will no longer be accepting applications for new student enrolments for VET in Schools Animal Studies courses. This includes both Certificate II and III in Animal Studies.
There are a number of reasons for this decision and these relate mostly to the evolving and changing compliance regulations and complex guidelines relating to RTOs working with VET in Schools programs. As well as the financial viability for us to continue to offer these programs.
Historically we have provided these qualifications at a significantly reduced cost to VET in Schools students, approximately 50% less than general public enrolments. There are no current Government funding opportunities available to us to assist school students with fees. Parent and school feedback from recent surveys indicates that a fee increase of any significance would be prohibitive to most. Hence our decision to cease offering Certificates in Animal Studies via our VET in schools program until a more affordable and structured outcome can be achieved.
ACM20117 – Certificate II in Animal Studies is now a compulsory pre-requisite for students who ultimately wish to study ACM40418 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. As such we understand how disappointing our decision will be for some students.
Please rest assured that all students currently enrolled in ACM20117 and ACM30117 will be fully supported throughout their learning journey through to the end of 2019/2020, this decision will not affect them at all. Our student support team and tutors will continue to make regular contact with your students to guide them through to completion.
We are 100% focused on offering study pathways for people wishing to work with animals. Our Animal Studies Certificates are available for high school graduates via general entry. For more information we recommend visiting ACM20117 Certificate II in Animal Studies
