FAQ'S

Why do you need to bring your dog to the Animal Behaviour & Training workshops?

Each ACM40322 Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Training student is required to bring a dog along to our workshop days. ‘Student dogs’ should be comfortable around other dogs and humans, crate-trained and capable of lots of training.

What happens if I don’t have access to a suitable dog?

If you do not have access to a suitable dog, or are travelling from elsewhere in Australia to attend the workshops, just advise us so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Does it matter if I have a different dog for the at-home training components?

For the at-home learning components, there are no training prerequisites for dogs, as they will be in their safe environment. If you do not live with a dog, you can use a family or friend’s dog if they are happy for you to train with.

Why using your ‘own dog’ at our workshops is preferred?

AVT Trainer and Assessor Fiona Cowie explains in the video below how working with your own dog during practical workshops builds confidence, fosters a supportive learning environment, and helps you develop real-world training skills.
