During her 15 years, she has worked in general practice for 5 years, Veterinary dermatology for 1 year, and Emergency and Critical Care for 8 years and recently has begun her new career in Veterinary Anaesthesia at a teaching university in Perth.

For the past 2 years, Helen has been one of our Trainers and Assessors for the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is enjoying every second! Currently, Helen is employed in a university teaching hospital where she works in the anaesthesia department but also completes 1 day at a gold standard general practice north of the river. Helen enjoys keeping her skills current which is why she does a mix of lecturing and in-clinic work each week.

Helen loves to teach trainee nurses. No question is silly, and we all learn in a range of different ways. Some students are visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic learners, and some need to read and write out new information. Helen Designs her classes to incorporate the different styles to suit all her students that come through AVT.

Helen is passionate about passing on her knowledge to the next generation of Veterinary Nurses. Her aim is to influence a new generation of Veterinary nurses who pay close attention to detail and advocate for high-level patient care. Helen has a special interest in anaesthesia which has developed while working at a specialty hospital in Perth. It doesn’t matter how long you have been a Veterinary nurse Helen understands we are always on a learning journey in this industry.
