Dr Rachel Blackmore

Rachel has been involved in the Veterinary industry for over 15 years and has worked in variety of clinics initially as a Veterinary nurse and then as a Veterinary Surgeon.
As a qualified veterinary nurse Rachel worked in animal welfare, mixed and small animal practice. After completing her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Rachel worked in mixed animal practice in NSW before moving back to Perth to work in a variety of clinics including the RSPCA veterinary clinic,   Murdoch University Animal Hospital and general practice small animal hospitals. During her career Rachel has really enjoyed mentoring trainee veterinary nurses and Veterinary students in practice, this led her to complete her Graduate Certificate in Tertiary and Adult Education.

Rachel is passionate about improving the welfare of animals. Rachel aims to inspire students to become compassionate, competent Veterinary Nurses and animal carers who can improve animal welfare, not only through hands-on work with animals but also through the education they can pass on to the owners.

Rachel continues to work in small animal and shelter practice, she has previously been involved in veterinary welfare work both overseas and in northern Australia and hopes to be able to make some more trips in the near future.
