We have arrangements with many of our past students that are happy to recommend us. We are most willing to put you in touch with one or more of these students should you wish to find our more!

Many of our past students are now in senior nursing positions. Others are found working in a variety of animal care positions including working at the zoo, wildlife parks and as reps for companies. Some have even gone on to become Vets.

"Learning is discovering that nothing is impossible" Just one of the few quotes I believe in, conveniently placed in the toilet of AVT.
Studying at AVT has been a life changing experience for me this year.
I have always been interested in the health and welfare of animals, I would love to help them anyway I can. My lack of experience has been holding me back, but AVT has helped me to move forward, towards achieving this goal.
I remember when I first started of how naive and fragile I was. I have matured a lot this year. AVT has supported me through my personal and professional development, to become a great veterinary nurse.
The vets and nurses are the loveliest people, very supportive, caring and have great sense of humour. The are very approachable and willing to help. It is true what they say: People who love animals are good people. The staff are no exeptions. I will miss them all when I graduate. Thank you AVT for the support and making me realize my full potential in life.

I came to Applied Vocational Training wanting to learn and grow as a Veterinary Nurse, what I did not realise was how much I would grow whilst I was here.
I was very lucky to get a place in this course and due to the  expertise and commintment of the fantastic staff excede my expectations.
My year at Applied Vocational Training has been a wonderful experience and I know that the challenges of next year will ba an easier one because of it.

Starting out in the Veterinary Industry can be a daunting experience. I found the staff at Applied Vocational
Training very helpful from the initial interview process right through to graduation and Job seeking. The training
and support I received helped me to gain employment soon after graduation and I have continued to advance my
nursing skills through general practice to become a Surgical Nurse working for a specialist.

Hi to all,
I just wanted to thank you all, not just for the Graduation night and the  Award I received ( Which was so unexpected and such a thrill to receive) but also for your patience, understanding and support throughout my YEARS of study.
I started the course at a very fragile time of my life and it was the focus on study that helped me through this unpleasant time.  I felt the support from all the staff at AVT not only on a student basis but a personal one as well.
Vet Nursing has not only become a career for me but a life style, I have never got up in the morning and looked forward to the working day, as I do now.  Each day brings something new, I never seem to stop learning. My new career path has taken me overseas to Germany, where I experienced and learnt so much.  I know this is not the end of my education in this field and certainly life's adventure is just beginning.
I'm sorry that I had to seak away early last night but my Boys had to start work by 5.00 am today and I didn't have a chance to thank you all indivdually.

Kind Regards, hugs and kisses,

Bronwyn

I have wanted to study Veterinary Nursing for many, many years but was nervous about studying again (even part-time) after having a family and a completely different career.

I needn’t have worried, as everything has been fantastic right from the initial interview. It makes such a difference having such approachable tutors available in person, by phone or email to answer questions or to just provide reassurance that you are on the right track.

I would like to thank everyone at AVT for the support I have received thus far with my studies. I am currently half way through the very comprehensive and continually updated  modules and loving every moment of it, I cannot wait to graduate and start my new career!

My story starts when we got back from traveling around Austalia for 15 months. Our daughter who is head nurse at the clinic where she works was short of staff so I started working there cleaning. I had been there for 12 months when the vet asked me to consider studing to be a vet nurse. It was something I had allways wanted to do but 40 years ago when you left school in the country you just got a job, which I did, met my husband and got married, had 3 kids.
When asked to consider to become a vet nurse I jumped in all feet first. At 54 years of age and not studied for 40 plus years didnt not think at the time, just wanted to do this thing called vet nursing. Its has allways been a passion as I have allways had a lot of animals around us and love them to bits. At first it was so hard but the staff at AVT encouraged me and taught me how to apply myself and it went from there. I would not have been able to complete the course in the time I did without their continuous help. They were fantastic. I allowed myself 2 years and didnt know if I was capable, but did it in 15 months. I feel so proud of myself and are loving every minute of it. I cannot get enough work. Just love going to work to help, play and enjoy the animals. I thank everyone from the office staff to the tutors for being there every minute I needed them, and if I can do it at 54 years of age anyone can. Just go for it and enjoy.

I've been studying with A.V.T. since February this year. I've been so happy with everything they have done for me in this time. I've found them completely professional. The workshops are also great fun. And it's so nice to be able to walk in and be greeted with friendly staff and people knowing your name. I would recomend training with them to anyone looking to do veterinary nursing.
