Dr John Platt
BVSC (hons), BVMS, Grad Dip Ed
Principal
John is the manager of Applied Vocational Training . John is a Veterinarian who has worked
with a variety of animals during his 18 years as a vet. He has a special interest in
companion animals, working with dogs ,cats and horses. John lives with his
family in
Mandurah, about 73 km south of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Over the last
few years John has specialized in technical education in the animal care industry, in
particular, Veterinary Nursing, and general Animal Care. John qualified with honours in
Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Murdoch University, Western Australia. He also has a
post graduate qualification in Education (higher and further education) from Curtin
University, Western Australia. Aside from practicing as a Veterinarian, he has more recently worked part time as a
lecturer at Curtin University, and spent over a year as the Senior Lecturer, managing the
Animal Studies department for TAFE. |

Belinda Riley
RVN
Administration Manager
Graduated from Applied Vocational Training in 2003, she has
been involved in the veterinary industry for 5 years as a
veterinary nurse. Her love for animals started in the Northern
Territory working as a jillaroo and having horses, dogs and cats.
Belinda has also worked in administration and in the
Education Industry for many years. Belinda is settled in Perth
with her Partner, her son Guy, 5 rescue cats and her toy
poodle, Nakita. |

Dr Mandy Kelly
BVSc (hons), Grad Dip Ed
Program Manager/Lecturer
Mandy graduated from Queensland University in 1986 and has worked in a variety of
practices in Queensland, England and West Australia. She has primarily worked with
companion animals although in England managed a mixed practice. In 1997 Mandy completed
her Graduate Diploma of Education at Murdoch University after lecturing part time for four
years at Bentley Animal Studies. She is married with
two daughters and presently lectures our Veterinary Nursing students and
manages the full time program.

Susan Barr
RVN
Work Practice
Coordinator/Lecturer
Sue is a
Veterinary Nurse who graduated as a mature age student from TAFE in
1995 (John taught Sue Pharmacy). Since then Sue has managed three
Veterinary Hospitals, lectured at TAFE and gained a Diploma in Nursing
Management and is currently undertaking business studies at Midland
TAFE. Sue's special area of interest is cat and dog behaviour and
human resources. Sue has two sons, a dog and two cats. |

Dr Michael Lawley
BSC, BVMS
Lecturer
Dr Michael Lawley is one of our lecturers and his teaching responsibilities include Pathology, Anaesthetics, Pharmacy amoungst others. Michael has had over 20 years of experience within
the Veterinary Industry. Michael part-owns a private practice,
south of the river and has tutored at Murdoch University.

Laura Platt
Administrative
Assistant
Laura works in our office as an administrative assistant. She has
worked in a variety of office and retail jobs and is presently
working 3 days a week in our office. She loves cats and shares the
same surname as our principal, which is not a coincidence as she
happens to be his daughter. |
